International Federation of women Lawyers (FIDA) - Convension 2014 - 35th FIDA Conference

In the year 2014 on an invitation from the President, International Federation of Women Lawyers, the Head, Department of Public and International Law, Faculty of Law, University of Colombo, Mrs. Jeeva S. Niriella, the Country Vice President FIDA for Sri Lanka, Mrs. Ridmika Dep, Secretary, Sri Lanka Women Lawyers' Association, Mrs. Pramuditha Senaratne and the Treasurer, Mrs. Swarna Jayaweera participated in the said Conference held in November 2014 in Bangalore on the theme "FIDA 70 YEARS OF ADVOCACY, CHANGING LIVES,CHANGING SOCIETIES, CHANGING STATUS OF WOMEN".

Several distinguished Speakers delivered valuable speeches and discussed issues based on A Violence free home - a right of every women, Trafficking, gender equality through equal rights in property, Abortion and many other topics relating to women's rights.

Attorney-at-Law, Mrs. Jeeva Niriella, Head of the Department - Public and International Law, Faculty of Law, University of Colombo delivered a speech on "Harrassment at workplace". Mrs. Ridmika Dep was appointed as the Regional Vice President.

During the talent show at the event , Secretary, Pramuditha Senaratne performed a dance item to the song "Rathna Deepa Janma Bhoomi - Lanka Deepa Vijaya Bhoomi" amidst thundering applause. Past President. Mrs. Ridmika Dep and the Treasurer, Mrs. Swarna Jayaweera sang "Wana Deuliya Thurule" showcasing our traditional values and thereby brought a good repute to our country.
