Project at Welikada Prison

The Women Empowerment Project andCounseling Programme for female inmates was successfully held at the Welikada Prison on 25th November 2017.

The programme presented together with four other following parallel events :
  1. Psychological Counseling
  2. Legal Aid Clinic
  3. Story telling session for kids
  4. Motivational session for drug addicted detainees
On behaif of Sri Lanka Women Lawyers Association', President Ms. Sandya Thalduwa greatly appreciated the support given by Mr. Chandana Ekanayake - Superintendant of the Welikada Prison and Mr.Mohan Karunaratne Chief Jailor of the Welikada Prison.

Past Presidents, Ms. Padma De Silva, Ms. Berny Alwis, Ms. Pushpa Rupasinghe, Ms. Chathurika Wijesinghe, Vice President Ms. Swarna Jayaweera, Secretary Ms. Sandya Wickramasinghe, Assistant Treasurer, Miss. Shehani Alwis, Committee Members Ms. Kumudu Ariyaratne, Ms. Erandathi Kuruppu, Ms. Rajika Abeyratne, Miss. Lakshika Siriwardane, several members and Law Students were participated at the event. Miss Ishara Jayasena was the Project Convener.
